Sermon: Legacy – What Will Outlive You?

1. Icebreaker – Light Entry

  1. When you hear the word “legacy,” what’s the first thing that comes to mind?

  2. Growing up, is there something someone passed on to you (a habit, value, tradition, or phrase) that still impacts you today?

  3. If someone described your life in one sentence 30 years from now, what would you hope they’d say?

2. Purpose Is the Prequel to Legacy

  1. Pastor said legacy begins with purpose. Where do you currently feel a sense of purpose in your life?

  2. Have you ever wrestled with questions like, “What am I here for?” or “Am I making a difference?” What did that season reveal?

  3. For those further along in life, do you ever struggle with “what if” or regret? What would it look like to believe it’s not too late to leave a legacy?

3. Spiritual Legacy – Faith Must Be Deposited

  1. The sermon said, “Money can be divided, but faith has to be deposited.” What does that mean to you personally?

  2. Who has influenced your faith the most? What did they do that impacted you?

  3. If someone looked at your life, would they clearly see what you believe? Why or why not?

4. Eternal Impact – Investing in What Lasts

  1. Jesus said to store up treasures in heaven. What does it practically look like to invest in something eternal?

  2. When you give, serve, pray, or disciple someone, do you view that as part of your legacy?

  3. Pastor shared the story of investing in land 40 years ago that is still producing salvations today. What might God be asking you to invest in now that could outlive you?

5. Main Thesis & Action (Discipleship Focus)

Core Idea:
You will leave a legacy. The question is not if, but what kind. A godly legacy is intentional — spiritually and practically.

  1. If your life ended today, what would continue because you lived?

  2. What is one step you need to take to strengthen your spiritual legacy?

    • Pray intentionally for your children or grandchildren

    • Begin sharing your faith openly

    • Create spiritual markers (journaling, Bible notes, blessing your family)

    • Invest more intentionally in the kingdom

  3. What is one practical step you need to take to bring clarity and stewardship to your legal and financial legacy?

    • Create a will or trust

    • Have a hard but necessary conversation

    • Clarify guardianship for children

    • Set your house in order
