Sermon: From Here to There – The Four Promises of God
1. Icebreaker
Have you ever felt stuck in an area of life but knew there had to be something more?
When you think about your life right now, where do you feel like you're at — and where do you wish you were?
What’s something you’ve tried to fix on your own that didn’t fully work?
2. Feeling Stuck (The “Here”)
Pastor described feeling “not enough” (not smart enough, strong enough, worthy enough). Which of those resonates most with you?
Why do you think people often try to fix themselves before coming to God?
Have you ever felt like the harder you tried, the more stuck you became? What did that reveal?
3. The Four Promises (God’s Way Forward)
God gives four promises: bring you out, set you free, redeem your purpose, and help you make a difference. Which one stands out to you the most right now?
Why do you think many people stop after salvation but never step into freedom or purpose?
What’s the difference between trying to change your life on your own vs. receiving what God has already promised?
4. Letting Go & Trusting God
The sermon said we often try to bring ourselves out of darkness instead of letting God do it. Why is letting go so difficult?
What does it practically look like to “let go” of your past, mistakes, or control?
Pastor said the journey starts with three things: make the move, let go, and commit to the relationship. Which one is hardest for you right now?
5. Main Thesis & Action (Discipleship Focus)
Core Idea:
You don’t move from “here to there” by trying harder—you get there by receiving God’s promises, letting go of control, and committing to a relationship with Him.
Where do you feel like you are right now (“here”) in your life spiritually?
What is your “there”—the place you believe God is calling you toward?
What is one step you will take this week to move toward that “there”?
Surrender your life to Jesus
Let go of a past mistake or mindset
Begin a consistent relationship with God
Take a next step like baptism or Growth Track
Invite God into a specific area you’ve been controlling
