Life Groups Discussion: 14 Days of Prayer and Fasting - Part 4

Small Group Discussion Questions

Sermon: Healing & Identity – Reaching for Jesus

1. Icebreaker – Light Entry

  1. Have you ever had to push through something difficult just to get to something you really needed?

  2. When you’re not feeling well (physically or emotionally), what’s your first instinct: push through, isolate, or ask for help?

  3. What’s something you believed would fix a problem in your life, but didn’t fully work?

2. When Strength Runs Out

  1. The woman in the story tried everything for 12 years and only got worse. Have you ever experienced a situation where trying harder didn’t fix it?

  2. Why do you think it’s so hard to turn to God after we’ve already exhausted every other option?

  3. The sermon said, “When our strength is exhausted, God’s mercy is still available.” What does that mean to you personally?

3. Faith That Reaches

  1. The woman said, “If I can just touch His garment…” What does that kind of faith look like in real life today?

  2. She pushed through fear, embarrassment, and weakness to get to Jesus. What tends to hold people back from doing the same?

  3. Are you more likely to focus on what’s wrong in your life, or what God has promised? Why?

4. More Than Healing – Identity Restored

  1. Jesus didn’t just heal her—He called her “daughter.” Why do you think that mattered so much?

  2. The sermon emphasized that our identity is not in our pain, past, or problems. Where do people most commonly find their identity instead?

  3. What would change in your life if you truly lived from the identity of being a son or daughter of God?

5. Main Thesis & Action (Discipleship Focus)

Core Idea:
Faith moves us toward Jesus, but Jesus doesn’t just meet our need—He restores our identity and invites us into relationship.

  1. Is there an area of your life where you feel stuck, exhausted, or overlooked right now?

  2. What would it look like for you to intentionally “reach for Jesus” in that situation this week?

  3. What is one step you can take to live from your identity as a son or daughter of God?

    • Spend intentional time with God

    • Speak truth over your situation instead of fear

    • Ask for prayer or support

    • Let go of self-reliance

    • Step out in faith in a specific area
