Life Groups Discussion: From Here To There - Part 2
From Here to There – Is Hell Real? (Cup 1: Sanctification)
1. Icebreaker
Have you ever had a moment where you really stopped and asked yourself, "Where am I... and where am I going?" What prompted it?
When you think about eternity, does it feel distant and abstract — or does it feel personal and real to you?
Is there someone in your life whose faith has made you curious about their relationship with God?
2. The Reality of Separation
Pastor said the Bible teaches that without Christ, we are separated from God — not just punished, but shut out from His presence. How does that framing hit you differently than just thinking about "going to hell"?
Why do you think many people resist the idea of eternal consequences, even while believing in God?
Pastor used the illustration of a box with an object inside — truth doesn't change based on opinion. How does that challenge the way our culture thinks about spiritual truth?
3. Divine Rescue (Not Behavior Modification)
Pastor said Christianity isn't behavior modification — it's divine rescue. What's the difference, and why does it matter?
In the parachute illustration, the first person put it on thinking it would improve his flight — and took it off when it got uncomfortable. Have you ever treated faith more like a comfort upgrade than a lifeline? What happened?
Romans 5:8 says God didn't wait for us to fix ourselves — He came while we were still sinners. How does that challenge the way you think about earning or deserving God's help?
4. Never Getting Over Grace
Pastor said, "I never want to get over being saved." For those who've been following Jesus a while — has the cross ever started to feel familiar or routine? What helped you reconnect?
Revelation 2 says Jesus' concern wasn't bad behavior — it was that they had lost their first love. What's the difference between doing Christian things and loving God?
What does it look like practically to remember what God brought you out of — and why does Pastor say you have to do it intentionally?
5. Brought Out to Know Him
Pastor said the point of rescue isn't just relocation — it's relationship. John 17:3 says eternal life is knowing God. What would it look like in your life to pursue knowing God, not just knowing about Him?
The key line was: "God didn't just save you from something — He saved you for a relationship." What does that change about how you approach your faith day to day?
Pastor said, "Before God changes what you do, He changes who you are." Where do you need to let God change who you are right now?
6. Main Thesis & Action (Discipleship Focus) Core Idea: God's first promise — "I will bring you out" — isn't a call to try harder or fix yourself. It's an invitation to receive divine rescue, and to live in the relationship you were created for.
Do you know for certain that you've been "brought out" — that you have a personal relationship with Jesus?
For those who do — are you living like someone who was rescued, or like someone just trying to have a better flight?
