Life Groups Discussion: 14 Days of Prayer and Fasting - Part 3
Small Group Discussion Questions
Sermon: Alignment – Prayer, Fasting & Breakthrough
1. Icebreaker – Light Entry
Have you ever had something out of alignment (car, body, schedule, etc.) that caused bigger problems than expected?
When life feels frustrating or stuck, what’s your natural response: push harder, wait it out, or ask for help?
What’s one area of life that currently feels a little “off” or out of sync?
2. The Desire for “More”
Pastor talked about a moment where you feel like, “There should be more to my life than this.” Have you ever felt that before? What triggered it?
Why do you think that sense of “there’s more” can actually be an invitation from God?
What areas of your life feel like they haven’t fully become what you expected yet?
3. When There’s No Breakthrough
The disciples had calling, authority, and experience—but still couldn’t break through in this moment. Why do you think that happens in our lives too?
Jesus described the issue as being “unbelieving” and “out of alignment.” What do you think it means to be disconnected from God or too connected to the world?
Have you ever experienced a season where you were trying hard but still not seeing results? What might have been out of alignment?
4. Alignment: God’s Will vs. My Will
The sermon said prayer connects us to God, and fasting disconnects us from the world. Why do we need both?
Have you ever found yourself praying for your will instead of God’s will? What’s the difference?
What would it look like for you to truly pray, “Not my will, but Your will be done” in a real situation you’re facing?
5. Main Thesis & Action (Discipleship Focus)
Core Idea:
Prayer and fasting are not about getting God to move toward us, but about bringing our lives back into alignment with Him—where breakthrough, clarity, and purpose are found.
Is there an area of your life right now where you feel out of alignment with God?
What might God be inviting you to let go of so you can realign with Him this week?
What is one intentional step you will take during this season to move toward alignment and breakthrough?
Fast something specific
Spend focused time in prayer
Surrender control in a situation
Seek God for direction or clarity
