Life Groups Discussion: From Here To There - Part 5
Cup 3: "I Will Redeem You"
1. Icebreaker
Have you ever felt like you were living without a clear sense of purpose — just going through the motions? What did that season feel like?
If someone asked you right now, "What did God put you on earth to do?" — how would you answer?
What's one thing you've done in life — even something small — that made you feel like you were exactly where you were supposed to be?
2. Saved From vs. Saved For
Pastor said: "God did not only save you from something. He saved you for something." How does that shift the way you think about your faith?
Many people experience Cup 1 (salvation) and maybe Cup 2 (freedom) but never step into Cup 3 (purpose). Why do you think that is?
The word redeem means to buy back, restore, recover, reclaim. What does it mean to you that Jesus didn't just purchase your soul — He purchased your purpose?
3. You Are God's Masterpiece
Ephesians 2:10 calls us God's poiema — His poem, His masterpiece, His handiwork. Does that word describe how you see yourself? Why or why not?
Pastor listed the lies the enemy whispers: too late, too broken, too average, too old, too young, too disqualified. Which one has had the most power over you?
What's the difference between genuine humility and what Pastor called "disagreement with your Creator"?
4. Purpose Comes Alive in Community
Pastor used the image of a hand cut off from the body — it still looks like a hand, but it loses life, movement, and purpose. Where do you see that picture playing out in the lives of believers today?
He said: "Isolation frustrates purpose. Connection activates purpose." Have you experienced that to be true? What happened?
What's the difference between attending church and actually being connected to the Body? Which one are you living right now?
5. How Do You Discover Your Purpose?
Pastor gave three practical steps: join Growth Track, join a small group, start serving. Of those three, which one is your clearest next step — and what's held you back from taking it?
He said, "Many gifts are discovered in circles, not rows." What's something you've learned about yourself through relationships in this group that you might not have discovered on your own?
Pastor also said, "You don't steer a parked car" — sometimes clarity comes after movement, not before it. Is there a step you've been waiting to feel certain about before taking? What would it look like to just move?
6. Main Thesis & Action (Discipleship Focus) Core Idea: Redemption isn't just being rescued — it's being restored to what you were made for. You are not random, extra, or overlooked. You are God's masterpiece with a specific assignment, and that assignment comes alive in community, grows through the church, and activates when you start serving.
What's one lie about your purpose or value that you need to lay down this week?
Is there someone in your life who doesn't yet know they are God's masterpiece — someone your "yes" could impact?
