Week 3 – Jonah Chapter 2

1. When did an unexpected change work out better?

Tell about a time when a delay, detour, canceled plan, or unexpected change initially frustrated you but ultimately worked out for your good.

Optional follow-up: Did you recognize the benefit immediately, or only when you looked back?

2. What Scripture helps hold you together?

Jonah’s prayer was filled with Scripture he had stored in his heart. Is there a verse, promise, or biblical story that has encouraged you during a difficult season?

Optional follow-up:Do you have a Scripture to proclaim over your current situation, or can the group help you with one?

3. What is your next response while the story is unfinished?

Jonah teaches us to call on God, pray the Word, and thank God before reaching dry land. Which of those three responses do you most need to practice this week—and what would that practically look like?

  • Call honestly on God from where you are.

  • Pray a specific Scripture.

  • Thank God before your circumstances change.
